Website Analytics

We use anonymous, opt-out website analytics (PostHog) to understand usage — page views, downloads, rough geography, feature clicks. It never receives anything from your computer.

Two different kinds of data — keep them separate

  • Your host diagnostics (CPU, processes, disk, etc.): read by the dashboard in your browser, directly from the local agent, and never sent to us or to any analytics service. The agent makes no outbound connections at all. See Agent Data-Handling and Verify it yourself.
  • Anonymous website usage (this section): which pages are viewed, that a download happened, and which site features are clicked — used to improve the product.

What the website analytics collect

  • Page views — which pages are loaded.
  • Downloads — that an agent download occurred, with platform/architecture/version.
  • Rough geography — country only, derived from your IP at ingest by PostHog. We do not store IP addresses ourselves.
  • Feature clicks — e.g. which dashboard time-range you pick — to see what’s useful.
  • Anonymous agent-interaction signals — when you use the dashboard, it records coarse, non-identifying facts to guide engineering: that you connected to a local agent, its mode (on-demand/background) and version, connection success/errors, and update checks. The agent itself never sends anything; the dashboard reports these, and they contain no host diagnostics (no hostnames, processes, IPs, or metric values).

How it’s kept private

  • Anonymous: no user accounts or person profiles; we don’t try to identify you.
  • No advertising or cross-site tracking: no ad networks, no third-party marketing cookies. Our Content-Security-Policy permits the site to talk only to your localhost and our analytics endpoint — nowhere else.
  • Do-Not-Track respected, and you can opt out anytime on the stats page (stored in your browser).
  • Provider: PostHog (US cloud). A first-party identifier is kept in your browser’s localStorage to count unique visits; clear it anytime.

Retention & durability

Aggregate counts live in PostHog. For long-term, provider-independent durability and tamper-evidence, we also publish monthly, hashed snapshots — see Transparency archives.

Why we disclose this so plainly

A product built on “your data stays on your machine” owes you a clear line between that promise (host diagnostics — never collected) and ordinary, anonymous website analytics (this page). We’d rather over-explain than blur it.
